Saturday promises to be a completely shitty day. Long story (which I don't fully understand myself), but a worship service I (and nearly everyone else) thought I'd be officiating at will be taking place. But I won't be officiating. I worked for a year to help this happen, but someone else was asked to do it when it was finally scheduled. I know it's hard to understand why this is upsetting, but believe me it is. I'm getting depressed already in anticipation.
Another piece of the long story--this person who will be officiating is probably going to be disciplined by the judicatory for the role she's played in all this. I'm also trying not to feel any schadenfreude about that.
I'll probably spend the whole day in bed.
Sometimes, you do the very best you can. You take real risks on behalf of others. You take a public stand on a controversial subject. You risk your job, even.
And someone who's kinda famous and really cool steps up, thanks you for your hard work, and walks over the finish line. And, as a good professional, all you can do is smile....and sleep all day.
