What should our SONG be for the 2004 campaign?
"Don't Stop Thinking about Tomorrow" was perfect. I don't even remember what Gore/Lieberman used.

I love "Walking on Sunshine". An optimistic message. Is Outcast too far out?

Your very best creativity is needed.

3. Rage Against the Machine-Take the Power Back?
They would not use it but it definitely makes sense in context of the times.

20. any of thier songs will work, really...
except the fact that they would offend blatantly with the use of foul language, but i say, whats to fear? just words... that will be all...

7. Maybe we could use --
-- "Hit the Road, Jack" for rallies and for the Inaugural, Aaron Coplan's "Fanfare for the Common Man." To address the period-specific sexist title, a woman should conduct the orchestra.

12. How about a little Tom Petty?
Well I won't back down, no I won't back down
You could stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down

Chorus
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin' me around
But I'll stand my ground and I won't back down

Hey baby there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down
No, I won't back down

13. Gimme Todd Rundgren's "Just One Victory."
We’ve been waiting so long,
We’ve been waiting for the sun to rise and shine
Shining still to give us the will
Can you hear me, the sound of my voice?
I am here to tell you I have made my choice
I’ve been listening to what’s been going down
There’s just too much talk and gossip going ’round
You may think that I’m a fool, but I know the answer
Words become a tool, anyone can use them
Take the golden rule, as the best example
Eyes that have seen will know what I mean

The time has come to take the bull by the horns
We’ve been so downhearted, we’ve been so forlorn
We get weak and we want to give in
But we still need each other if we want to win

Hold that line, baby hold that line
Get up boys and hit ’em one more time
We may be losing now but we can’t stop trying
So hold that line, baby hold that line

If you don’t know what to do about a world of trouble
You can pull it through if you need to and if
You believe it’s true, it will surely happen
Shining still, to give us the will
Bright as the day, to show us the way
Somehow, someday,
We need just one victory and we’re on our way
Prayin’ for it all day and fightin’ for it all night
Give us just one victory, it will be all right
We may feel about to fall but we go down fighting
You will hear the call if you only listen
Underneath it all we are here together shining still

14. We're not gonna take it
By Twisted Sister

OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'VE GOT THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE AND
THERE AIN'T NO WAY WE'LL LOSE IT
THIS IS OUR LIFE, THIS IS OUR SONG
WE'LL FIGHT THE POWERS THAT BE JUST
DON'T PICK OUR DESTINY 'CAUSE

OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

OH YOU'RE SO CONDESCENDING
YOUR GALL IS NEVER ENDING
WE DON'T WANT NOTHIN', NOT A THING FROM YOU
YOUR LIFE IS TRITE AND JADED
BORING AND CONFISCATED
IF THAT'S YOUR BEST, YOUR BEST WON'T DO

OH...
OH...
WE'RE RIGHT/YEAH
WE'RE FREE/YEAH
WE'LL FIGHT/YEAH
YOU'LL SEE/YEAH

OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT

OH WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'RE RIGHT/YEAH
WE'RE FREE/YEAH
WE'LL FIGHT/YEAH
YOU'LL SEE/YEAH

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT, NO!
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

JUST YOU TRY AND MAKE US
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT

YOU'RE ALL WORTHLESS AND WEAK
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

15. "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better" by the Byrds or Tom Petty
Rewritten by ME!

The reason why, Oh we can say
We have to let you go George, and right away
After what you did, you can't stay on
And we'll probably feel a whole lot better
When you're gone

George for a long time, you had us believe
That your war was all fine, and that's the way it would be
But I didn't know, that you were putting us on
And we'll probably feel a whole lot better
When you're gone

Now we've got to say, that it's not like before
And we're not gonna play, your games anymore
After what you did, you can't stay on
And we'll probably feel a whole lot better
When you're gone
Oh when you're gone
Oh when you're gone
Oh when you're gone

19. System of a Down "BOOM!"
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 02:33 AM by LastKnight
I've been walking through your streets,
Where all your money's earning,
Where all your building's crying
And clueless neckties working,
Revolving fake lawn houses,
Housing all your fears,
Desensitized by TV,
Overbearing advertising,
God of consumerism,
And all your crooked pictures
Looking good, mirrorism,
Filtering information,
For the public eye,
Designed for profiteering,
Your neighbor, what a guy.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.

Modern globalization,
Coupled with condemnations,
Unnecessary death,
Matador corporations,
Puppeting your frustrations,
With the blinded flag,
Manufacturing consent,
Is the name of the game,
The bottom line is money,
Nobody gives a fuck.
4000 hungry children leave us per hour,
From starvation,
While billions are spent on bombs,
Creating death showers.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM

Why, why, why, why must we kill, kill, kill, kill
Our own, own, own, own kind...

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM
Every time you drop the bomb.

---------

but i suppose that would piss some people off because it has the F word... but hey... at least its a truthful view of the world.

21. IF Kerry wins, your'e all wrong, the song must be Creedence
"Run Through the Jungle."

No ifs, ands or buts.

I WILL NOT TOLERATE DISSENT ON THIS POINT

THIS IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE DEMAND

AND I WILL ENFORCE THIS DECISION BY ....

... well, I dunno what I'd do, but SOMETHING.
