Anti-war is not anti-troops message on "One Life to Live" soap opera.
I am aware there are probably not too many here who watch the soaps, but recently on "One Life to Live" they have had a storyline with a college student who is pro-peace/anti-war.

She was harrassed and threatened by some other students on campus. Today, her brother shows up at her dorm room and tells her that she made the news back in her hometown. Seems her family lives in an area with a lot of conservative veterans. The community is starting a boycott on her father's restaurant and her brother's roofing company because they think she is anti-troops. Dad sends big brother to tell her to knock off the pro-peace stuff, it is hurting the family. She won't back down, says that she IS pro-troops, that's why she is pro-peace. She's sorry if it hurts the family, but she has convictions and principles and has to follow them.

I am pleasantly surprised that they are actually showing the pro-peace/anti-war message in a positive light.

1. She also stressed that many of the soldiers joined solely
to get money for an education.

I haven't seen the show in a while so I was pretty startled when I saw those scenes.

2. I saw that, too
I realize it's fictional, but why would people boycott a man's restaurant because his daughter, who's going to college away from home, is anti-war? And he doesn't even share her sentiments. How ignorant.

5. Remember, these would be the same people ordering "freedom fries" ...
and "freedom toast". Knee-jerk, dittohead reactionaries unable to formulate an independent thought. Although this is a fictional account, I have no doubt that episodes like this have occurred in the US.

3. This is awesome
I'll bet this is reaching a whole new audience who only get the mainstream media's view that war protesters are just part of the "fringe".
