What to do about my Muslim Cat?

I swear my cat is Muslim. She alway wakes up before the dawn call to prayer and meows at our door until someone feeds her. It's like she keeps saying she's got to be ready to get to Mosque on time.

However, I am a little suspicious about her convictions. I suppose she prays sometimes, but typically she goes to her chair and curls up for a nap after breakfast.

Is there anyway we can deprogram our cat?



Seriously, I don't enjoy waking up at 5-5:30 on the weekends.

I remember as a child how my mother would talk about Cat Stevens because he converted to our religion. Being a convert herself she was so happy! lol

8. Ive been having problems with my Golden Retriever, who converted to Islam

recently, which is quite a switch for a Golden as you can imagine.

My other retriever Rusty happens to be a staunch Baptist, so it gets a little tricky around here at times, especially around Christmas and Ramadan. (Yikes!*)

So, at times I just have to be pretty careful what I say and how I phrase things to them, or well, the growling commences and it takes away from the overall positive tone of the holidays.

You know, you have to let your cat know that religion is a personal thing, and that if he really needs to worship in the morning,

to take it outside and/or hit the nearest Mosque if hes really needing some spiritual connection.

I tried putting her in a downstairs room by herself... Think the West Bank

--That didn't work either... she protested loudly.

Should I lock her in a room with Pat Robertson on... Or, is that going too far?

12. the queen dowager of our bunch does the same

she's 17, starts around 3:30a.m. by making "erfing" noises in my ear, if this doesn't work then she switches to sitting on the pillow, and the "erf" gets louder....

next step is to pat my head and face, followed by head butts to nose

this is usually enough to get me up.

she then leads the "troops" out to the kitchen for the morning prayers --- "...'I-ah-tol-yaaa' it's time to eat...."

She is telling you all about the wonderful sunrise, and how glorious it is to greet the day with an early meal and a nap. Follow her profound example, and you will surely attain enlightenment.
