Ear-Biting Man Nabbed

NICOSIA (Reuters) - An off-duty British soldier has been arrested in Cyprus for biting off part of another man's ear during a fight, police in Cyprus said Monday.

The 30-year-old suspect is being held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault for a fracas at a nightclub in the coastal Larnaca resort Sunday morning, police said.

"He wrestled another Englishman to the ground and then bit off part of the lobe of the right ear," a police spokesman said.

Police did not identify the suspect. The victim, a 27-year-old, required out-patient hospital treatment for between five and six millimeters of ear lobe bitten off, police said.
