Maj. Joe Mecadon, a 47-year-old Air Force officer, witnessed it from start to finish. Mecadon said he saw the tornado begin to take shape as a funnel cloud at about 1:35 p.m., approximately one mile northwest of Royal Kunia.

"It wasn't like a powerful Texas twister, but it touched down in some pineapple fields near Kunia Road," said Mecadon, a former Texas resident who grabbed his camera the moment the tornado started to form.

Mecadon said the tornado connected to the ground from its cloud base for about four minutes. He estimated the tornado was between 1,000 feet and 1,400 feet in length.

Koreen Tanjuakio, a 31-year-old Coca-Cola marketing manager, was driving with her fiance through the Waipahu area at the time of the twister and said she could see the tornado forming "from the H-1."

Althought it was a weak one, we usually don't see mini-twisters here in Hawaii. It was kind of "weird".

1. Whoa! A twister in Hawai'i!
There's something you don't see every day.

Now rainfall while the sun is out? All the time. :D

3. WTF is going on over there?
I lived there for three years. I remember one really serious multi-day rain storm. We had this canal behind our house on base, and that thing almost over-flowed. That was as serious as things got.

Thunder storms? lightning? Really? :wow:

and about how the cold forms at the pole

Space is cold, really really really cold.
