2. I'm confused by this poll...
It's not like an opinion question, it WAS about James Taylor. It's a fact.

5. James Taylor Vain?
I find that hard to believe when I listen to the words of the song. None of those actions seem to fit him. Come on, a lear jet, hob knobbing with spies...can't be him.

I remember reading it, because I had wondered about that for years. Common sense said Warren Beatty, since she had dated him around that time, and he was known to be a real shit. But she definitely said it was Taylor. Hang on, I'm still looking.

If "You're So Vain" was indeed meant to be a slap at Jagger, he would not have agreed to be on the record.

say that she said it WASN'T him. I know I remember reading she said it was him, but perhaps the article I read was wrong. Supposedly it's still a mystery.

46. When you pour cream into coffee
it' billows through the hot liquid forming what look like cumulous clouds.

I'd always taken it to mean that the "Cloud Castles in the Sky" kind of phantasies young women in love tend toward (what if one day we marry and have children, I wonder if we'll live together, vacation in France together, etc...) were unnaturally small based on how self-obsessed she thought the dude was.

paper, that one winner will go to her house for dinner and she'll reveal the name and sing the song. The winner has to sign a statement saying they won't reveal the identity. I think it's in this week's People.

And I should know, I went to Junior High School in the same building as all three of Susan St. James and Dick Ebersols kids. I also argued cases against lil Petey Ebersol in Litchfield Superior Court, well not actually argued, but I was in the building at the time. So, therefore I ought to know.

Alright, she says the guy is "so vain" because "I bet you think this song is about you, don't you". But, the thing is, the song *is* about him, so is he really vain if he picks up on this or is he simply perceptive?

I probably think to logically about things, but this song never made much sense to me.

45. I dunno...
few could "out-vain" Warren in his heydey. Dish magazines have made a point out of Jagger's apparent certainty that he's an ugly blighter who wouldn't have gotten half the attention he has if he weren't a rich rock-n-roll star. Warren's always been a pretty boy and up until Annette, he has sooooooo played the field.

55. When That Song Was a Hit.....
...I was still a Catholic and a member of our church's Folk Group. We used to provide the music at the 10:00 Folk Mass every week. One of the parish priests served as our advisor. He was a bit of an egotist, so when he wasn't there we used to sing a version of "You're So Vain" about him:

"You're so vain, you probably think this Mass is about you".....
