Anybody here on a FIBER restricted, low residue diet? |
|
Due to recent abdominal surgery, I am. I used to eat lots of fiber, thinking this would be great for my diverticulitis tendencies (I had several attacks). But now I am told my colon is too narrow and I must forever eat low fiber foods.
My question is: how do I get proper nutrition on this diet? I take a multi vitamin every day and I will ask my GE doc when Isee him next week. But now my hair is falling out and I have dark circles under my eyes. I suspect my diet is at fault.
Does anyone have any suggestions (besides consulting a nutritionist which I will ask the doc about)?

1. Are you getting enough protein? |
|
I hear a lack of protein in your diet can cause your hair to fall out.

2. I think so. I try to eat protein at each meal and I eat several times a day. |

My surgeon said I had to eat several small meals every day and that I would always be thin as a result. I have lost 30 lbs. since my surgery but I think I may be putting some weight back on because I wasn't eating for so long after the surgery and now I can eat more.
I fear a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I know a simple blood test will reveal something. Just wondering if anybody else has to live with this hellish diet (I've never eaten so much mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese in my life!).
