Who is your favorite superhero?

Originally mine was The Hulk as written by Peter David. When Marvel took him off the book I never read it again.

I loved Superman until John Byrne put his hands into the pie and changed him from the mightiest superhero to one who had trouble shrugging off a bazooka. Although I did read the Doomsday saga. I thought THAT was incredible.

And lets not forget Northstar of Alpha Flight. You KNEW he was gay even if they never came out (no pun) and said it for a long time.

I guess my favorite now, though, would have to be Spiderman. Peter Parker always seemed to be an 'every man' to me. He had problems just like everyone else and being Spidey was the only outlet he really had. They almost lost me on that one, too, though with the Clone Saga. The way out of it was so simple and Peter Parker should have known it. Then they kill off Aunt May which, in my opinion, was a brave and needed story. Then they bring her back and say it was all a hoax.

Although neither were technically a super-hero...I always thought they were cool.

Frank Miller's Batman is the ultimate angry old-man superhero. And man, can that guy make comic noir, or what.

21. The Silver Surfer...

Stan Lee's original series chronicled his journey as that of Christ's. The hero's musings on poverty and war-mongering were very much part and parcel to the progressive movement of the 60's.

22. Batman and Spiderman are the two that have always been on my A-list

for a good 30 years. Others have rotated on and off, but those two have always been in my top 10.

Also a big fan of Thor, Dr. Strange, and Iron Man.

Not so many DC heros. I've always loathed Superman; Byrne did a good job for about 6 issues, but then it went back to shit. Problem with Superman is that he's set up to be too much strong and impenetrable, so the stories don't work unless the writers lie or make up dumb stuff.

Big Green Arrow fan, though. Especially after what's his name started writing for the Arrow in the mid-80s. What the hell was that guy's name? Can't remember.

You could feel the faintest whiff of Badger's inanity when Baron took over the Flash (right after the Crisis). They lasted, what, four issues each?

A three issue Superman-Batman/Luthor-Joker crossover. I don't recall who wrote the story, but thought the Dude did a great job on the art. Anyone else remember that?

72. Anyone has that censored Jesus issue?

There was a story arc in which the bad guys manage to send ST bumping backwards in time. He reaches various historical periods in sucession. Eventually he reaches Jesus, but THAT issue was censored. For no other reason than having Jesus appear in a superhero comic was considered "improper".

And there was nothing disrespectful in it from what I've read -- Jesus only gives some advice to ST and he resumes his time-bouncing.
