WTF??? Twisters in Hawaii?? Yesterday, about 10 touched down
in Central Oahu, no injuries and slight damage. Last week, Hail fell in Kaneohe Bay.

Weird Weather most likely caused by the Bush Guys.

Central O'ahu residents see twister take form

A weather phenomenon rare in Hawai'i showed up and touched down in Central O'ahu yesterday afternoon when a tornado the length of four football fields kicked up red dirt and scattered rocks for four furious minutes.

Maj. Joe Mecadon, a 47-year-old Air Force officer, witnessed it from start to finish. Mecadon said he saw the tornado begin to take shape as a funnel cloud at about 1:35 p.m., approximately one mile northwest of Royal Kunia.

"It wasn't like a powerful Texas twister, but it touched down in some pineapple fields near Kunia Road," said Mecadon, a former Texas resident who grabbed his camera the moment the tornado started to form.

Mecadon said the tornado connected to the ground from its cloud base for about four minutes. He estimated the tornado was between 1,000 feet and 1,400 feet in length.

4. Cripes, it's like that movie
"The Day After Tomorrow" (I think that's it) where all the weird weather and global catastrophe is caused by global warming. The trailer shows a tornado ripping up the Hollywood sign in LA.

6. Wow!
I always thought, when I moved to HI, "Sure - we have earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, and tsunami - but at least I don't have to worry about tornadoes any more!"

Guess I should have been worried about them, too. :-)

Hope your crabs and shrimp are okay, opihimoimoi!
