AmericanForum.net is a new forum dedicated to providing an unbiased forum for Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Greens and every other party to discuss current events in politics, news, and media.

Also, we hope to be a source of education for new users by allowing them to view the party forums of each political party. Through these party discussions, I hope that newer users are able to learn the views of each party and make a better decision as to which he/she belongs.

If it were possible to have a reasonable debate it could be a great service. As much as the Republicans are wrong, in general most people come to their conclusions because they think they are the best for them and the world.

You can learn a lot from reasonal debate with people who differ. But of course, on the internet such debate is impossible. Its a shame.

I like these forums so far. At least the conservatives over there for now seem to be civil and want to discuss rather than hurl insults and beat their chests sanctimoniously. I have also seen some good posts by liberals.

Anyway, just thought I would chip in my two cents worth.

I tried all sorts of different Republican/Conservative forums, including Free Republic, no one would allow me to promote my site. And I don't want to advertise on a board without the admin's permission, that's just bad taste.

I'm going to try some paid advertisements on RightWingNews.com to see if that helps.

First off, there are quite a few DU members actively posting at AmericanForum.net and are having good discussions.

The only time someone is banned is when it becomes clear that their objective is not to discuss issues, but to force their opinions on everybody else by using vulgar language or other annoying tactics. We want people with an open mind. People who know that they do not know everything about the issue.

In politics, the truth is relative. Liberals and conservatives both feel that they know the truth. Real progress is made when both sides admit that they don't know everything. Unfortunately some members here don't feel that way, and claim to represent this entire site.

I don't feel that is the case. As I told mouse, the members of DU have good points, but immediately dismissing and degrading another person because they don't agree isn't the best way to win any converts. You must first respect another person's opinion before they can consider yours as truth.
