2. Knives, blade down
Forks and spoons, business end up.

Otherwise, (a) the forks and spoons don't get clean, and/or (b) you stab yourself unloading the knives.

OK, I'm anal retentive.

4. same arrangement in my dishwasher
Moving into a house with no dishwasher soon. Thinking of getting a little countertop model, but maybe I should just not be such a lazy wimp.

6. forks too, for me.
with the points down, they get plenty clean, and just like with the knives, you don't get stabbed unloading.

7. Dude, the 'business end' of a knife
is the sharp pointy one. You knew that, right? The business end of a hammer is the part you hit the nail with. The business end of a tire iron is the part you take the tire off with, etc...

5. Business end up in a home dishwashing machine
Even the knives. And no, I've never cut myself. I always pull the basket of clean utensils out, put them on a clean dishtowel and check for spots and goobers before setting them in a tray in the drawer.

In a flight washer, it really doesn't matter. Really.

8. Mix it
Some up, some down.

Gets cleanest that way.

9. I only use the dishwasher as a drying rack...
Wash them by hand and then store them in the dishwasher (I've had it for a year and have never turned it on)
