Fountains of Wayne fans: where should I start?
I knew the one guy from Fountains of Wayne did "That Thing You Do," (which I adore) and I really liked one of their songs Harry Shearer played on his show. So, I downloaded a live set they did at a festival in Camden, NJ this summer, and I was stunned. Why hadn't anybody told me how good they were before?

So, where do I start? Or is it one of those things where I just need to start at the beginning and work my way through the whole collection?

1. "Welcome Interstate Managers"?
Has their big hit "Stacy's Mom" and is very solid overall. Their "rarities" collection "Out of State Plates" is pretty good, especially if you like ironic covers (Britney's "....Baby One More Time" and ELO's "Can't Get it out of my Head" are a couple.

Check your local public library about borrowing a couple of the discs, or try half.com or lala.com to get them cheaper.

Not sure why so many of their records have automotive themes... besides those two, there's "Utopia Parkway" and the new one "Traffic and Weather"

4. Hey you
any new work to look at????
I love your pictures.....

There is a song by Timbaland you should
set a theme shot to......
I think you could do amazing work to this song...

Apologize..

I'm holding on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground
I'm hearin what you say but I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around, and say...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
< Apologize lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com >
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothin new - yeah yeah
I loved you with a fire red-
Now it's turning blue, and you say...
"Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I'm afraid...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
It's too late to apologize, yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah-
I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground...

they had a "collection".....

I would start at the beginning
and listen to the growth and the difference in the music as they progressed....
A good band... but do you have a link to your work?????

3. he's a great songwriter - witty, melodic, sweet, satiric, rave-ups, and stories.
Welcome Interstate Managers has so many gems. I love that CD. I played it non-stop the summer it came out. I also like the Cars-style hooks and tone, but he's able to do almost any genre well.

The covers are fun, too.

THey remind me of how cool I thought Moxy Fruvous was when I discovered them.

5. Ah, another Fruhead!
I'm glad I got to see them live once before the "hiatus".

6. I always missed them when they were here :(
My husband and I could sing most of their lyrics by heart.

Once I was the king of Spain, now I eat humble pie....
