2. Ha! Back when we used to debate whether Britain should join the Euro
Chancellor (now Prime Minister) Gordon Brown had his five economic tests that must be passed before he would countenance Britain joining the Euro.

Since the five economic tests were drawn up with the help of then Treasury aide Ed Balls, somebody suggested they should be called the Five Economic Testes.

18. And when he was transport minister...
...his junior minister was a certain Stephen Ladyman, which used to prompt lots of jokes on Top Gear about Darling and Ladyman!

17. Mind you, we could have already had a PM called Major-Ball, no less!
If only his father hadn't boringly lopped - or should we rather say CASTRATED - the last part of the name!

19. My dad always used to tell the story
of a chap he served in the Navy with called Balls. Apparently at rollcall when the Seargent called out "BALLS!" they would all reply with "AND THE SAME TO YOU!"
