NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – For the past two years, Microsoft has established a reputation as a follower in the video game war. When Sony acted, Microsoft reacted – especially when it came to price cuts. Things could be about to change.

Microsoft's Xbox may be on the verge of a substantial price cut, falling from $179 to $99 by Labor Day, according to P.J. McNealy, an analyst with American Technology Research.

Personally, I'm not a big Xbox fan, I'm just hoping this means Sony will put out the PS3 earlier.

1. It's a good offer

I mean the XBOX is very good as home video platform ... install a low noise fan and either wait for the MS thingie or install the XBOX media player (a few games have bugs allowing the installation of any software) and you have a very cheap DIVX DVD player with HD, that accepts video streams from a source in the local network. A very good deal IMHO - especially as there are some very good xbox games around.

None will buy xbox if xbox2 is comming..

Like buying ps2 when ps3 is coming soon.

3. With a husband and 4 boys, PS2 is all the rage in our house.

My husband has all of his friends over 1-2 times a week for gaming. They want the new PS3 to come out now!
