What's the best free media player?
Okay, WinAmp has been fucking up lately on my machine, which is alright since I never really dug the program anyway. My question to you is whether or not there is a better media player than WinAmp? I am not really into video clips or mp3s or whatnot, I just want a program that will play CDs and allow me to fuck with EQ levels.

7. RealOne- UGH!
I LOATHE this program!

Bloated like crazy. And it sees fit to install adware and add itself to the startup menu whenever I use it (I use it only when I have to). I have to go in to the startup menu after every use to uncheck the box. QuickTime is the same way.

Makes me actually like Windows Media Player.

I won't even touch Musicmatch. It's just as bloated, and serves little use to me.

4. Are you running WinAmp 3?
If so, get rid of it. WinAmp 5 is out now, and it is very lean. As good or better than the 2 series.

You may even want to go into your 'options' on WinAmp and do a little tweaking. Sometimes the settings may bog it down. Also, go to your startup menu (CTRL, ALT, DEL) and click the box so it does not load on startup. No real reason for this.

Another option is to track down an older version of WinAmp.

What kind of problems are you having with it? I've had none.

6. Some kind of error. I have no clue. I can't get the program to start.
I think I'll just reinstall it and see what happens.

8. Uninstall, then reinstall
Probably some kind of glitch.

Also, get a registry cleaning program like FixIt utilities. It costs money, but it works well. It will remove any conflicts in the system registry. Then fresh install. This should work.

12. Yep, Winamp has my vote.....
it does a lot of stuff, especially the newest version. It's my default player for cd's, online music and video, unless RealPlayer, Quicktime or Windows Media Player is the only option.

9. Quintessential cd player
qcd is what I use, it lets you set the eq all you want, if all you want it for is music, it's worth taking a look at.

10. Win Media Player, if youve got the computer muscle.
I hate jukebox. WMP will play everything except real and qt, so you'll need those too if you want to be 100% covered for all formats
