Dear Lounge, I am a stranger here, although I've been on DU for over 6 years.

I most likely don't know, or have rarely interacted with, most of you here. And I'm pretty sure that hardly anyone here knows me.

But I'm desperate. I have nowhere else to go. I hope you will forgive my intrusion.

I just spent nearly 20 minutes crafting what I hoped would be a brilliantly humorous post, for a perfectly delightful GD thread (imho, of course).

And then -- that sickening feeling that comes when you click on "post" only to get a message that the thread you are posting is no longer operative.

for YEARS! (You go to your "prefences" and click on "Hide Lounge from Latest Page") I clicked the Lounge out of my sight the minute that option became available (sometime back in '03, I think...).

I did that because I am a very serious person, and did not want to spend any of my precious time on frivolity and vulgarity.

However, I have come to realize that I have gone nearly completely around the bend, and will most likely drink and smoke myself to death. This being the case, I would prefer to go out laughing.
