God forgive me, but I just don't understand the appeal of recent Allan Holdsworth material.

I'm listening to a recording of his set from this year's NEARfest festival (okay, technically not part of the festival, but let's not quibble over technicalities), and I just don't understand the appeal. Bunch of runs, extended jazz chords, bunch of runs, extended jazz chords. The most appealing thing about it is Chad Wackerman on drums.

(Don't get me wrong, I love Holdsworth's work with UK. I just don't care for what he's doing now.)
