My wisdom tooth extraction is scheduled for October 30th...
:scared:

All four have to come out.

One of my wisdom teeth is coming in completely SIDEWAYS! That's right, it's at a 90 degree angle from where it should be. I always thought the little bit of tooth that was showing through the gum was the top of the tooth (silly me). Turns out , that was the tooth's side.

This is going to suck so much.

1. Get put to sleep
or at least have the IV valium so you won't remember anything. I didn't and it was horrific-

15. Good
I took 3 of the pain killers they gave me and I finally stopped crying at that point. It was the worst pain I have ever had. I couldn't close my mouth for two weeks and lost 35 pounds and had two black eyes for a month. Not pleasant-

However,
My girlfriend had the IV drip and when she got in the car she said...
"When are they going to start, I want a cheeseburger" much better experience for her.

3. I've had
2 of them extracted - best thing I've ever done for my teeth. It did not hurt - The guy used lots of pain killer and I didn't feel anything but some odd pressure.

It isn't as bad as you think.

5. Wisdom teeth are a tricky thing after-effect wise
Edited on Mon Oct-15-07 03:14 PM by Mike Daniels
My personal experience involved a morning appt. and by the next evening I was off hitting the bars with friends with no ill effects. Only took two doses of the pain killer (2 tablets per dose) the doctor gave me. One dose about 7 hours after the extraction and one dose in the middle of the night.

One of the friends I was drinking with had a less pleasant experience (as these things go) that involved being on codeine for about a week.

Good luck on the appt and best wishes for a quick recovery.

7. What hurt the most was the stitches. Oh and the drug that put me under
made me sick. My sister had a reaction to the drug and was 'out of it' for a week.

10. Don't worry - it's actually rather fun!
Especially with the drugs - they have some pretty damn good drugs nowadays.

I know it's a little scary, but everything will be just fine.

11. Don't let people frighten you.
It's not pleasant, but the apprehension before, and people telling you about the bad experiences they or others had is worse than the actual operation. It's not going to be any fun, but you'll find that it won't be as bad as you expected.

Regards, Mugu
