I just found out that a friend of mine had surgery last Friday to remove 2 masses in one of her breasts.

The docs think they're benign, but she won't know for sure until she gets the test results on Thursday.

I'm shocked, and numb...she's only in her mid-30's!

So please, Lounge...send her some good vibes. We need some favorable test results!

You don't have to be old to have breast cancer. My niece was diagnosed at 19 - had a double mastectomy the week she turned 20. It's been 3 1/2 years, and she's doing well, thank dog.

And I know you don't have to be old, but anyone under 50 freaks me out because, due to the lack of mammograms, it's so much less likely to be caught in time.

Sorry if I seemed rude.

My niece presented with nipple discharge, not finding a lump - may have been good luck that the tumor was near the nipple, leading to discharge and probably earlier detection.

The waiting is the worst. But I've had three cancer scares and beat the hell out of them!!! All were benign--she can do it!

Here's a tip for you: fly Air Tahiti Nui to Paris. They run a regular Papeete-LA-Paris route. It's a few dollars cheaper than Air France and as pleasant.
