Best movie chase scene ever (not a poll, for once)

I finally saw "Being John Malkovich" and have to say that Cameron Diaz chasing Catherine Keener through Malkovich's subconscious has to take the prize always and forever. Needed a fruit cart, though. Any other nominations?

Going 120 mph through downtown Chicago eluding the Illinois State Police, Chicago PD, and the Illinois Nazis. Gotta love it!

You also gotta love the chase throught the mall!

14. Wow! Someone else who liked "Ronin"!

For some reason the whole ice-skating thing bugged me, but aside from that, I loved that movie! Maybe because of Jean Reno, or maybe because it seemed much more real than other action movies -- when one of the guys was punched, or fell down stairs, it looked like it hurt as opposed to some idiot like Gropenfuhrer acting impervious to bullets (outside of the Terminator role, of course).

16. All of the car chase scenes were done in real high-speed time.

None of that *safe driving* to be sped up later. Director Frankenheimer (of 1966's Grand Prix fame) wanted to catch the realism of high-speed driving, and in Ronin, he succeeds marvelously. The drivers went up to speeds of 120 mph with no computer effects. Something like 80 cars were demolished in the filming.

BTW - I just bought the DVD version of this film at the grocery store for only $9.99! It includes both the full-screen and wide-screen versions PLUS an alternate ending. I've never seen it in wide-screen and have never seen the alt ending. Should be interesting (maybe they'll show what was in the box - I hope not).

Further BTW - the film also appeals to me as much of it was shot along the French Riviera in Cannes & Nice, and some of the locations are places/hotels etc I've visited. I put this one together with Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief and I feel like I'm on vacation.

I've been to England, Germany, Finland & Italy, but not France, even though I studied French for 4 years. Whatever. But I love the scenes of southern France in Ronin & I hope to get to France sometime this year or early next!

Has the funniest chase scene at the end with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal travelling on an ice cream cart through the hills of SF. They are being chased by mad musicians, Madeline Kahn, organized crime figures, and a dowdy old woman who wants her jewels back.

I could tell more, but it'd be a disservice to the film.

Favorite "real" chase scene is French Connection.
