When I was a kid, my parents subscribed to this. Every month, I'd look forward to my Things of Science kit... They had a little manual, explaining how to do the projects, and what they meant, and the equipment to do the experiments (except for common household items).
There were kits on motion (redoing Galileo's motion experiments, mostly), heat and temperature, solar energy, wind power, acids and bases, magnetism, lenses, etc.
They touched pretty much all the bases.
I just did a google search for Things of Science, and found nothing. I think it was sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute.
Anybody else here get these when they were younger?
Do you know of any similar type of program today, a cheap science-kit-of-the-month sort of thing?
