Two great examples being a pair of Green Bay Packers who helped win the 1997 Super Bowl, Mark Chmura and Reggie White.
Chmura turned down an offer to join his teammates for a visit to the White House after they won, because Chmura thought president Clinton was "immoral."
Chmura got into a rape charge later, he claimed it was consensual, she said it wasn't. Chmura was found not guilty, but he simply faded into obscurity especially when the fat endorsement contracts canceled.
Reggie White gave a speech to the WI state assembly using any and every racial stereotype he could imagine.
White also raised hundreds or thousands of dollars for a friend of his in SC, a preacher who's church burned down. Long story short, friend is now in jail, since he was selling dope, burned down the church himself, and stole all the money Reggie White raised. White tried everything he could to keep his friend out of jail, and refuses to answer to all those who gave money to him for that church.
Just recently, it came out that White promised some WI kids if they stayed out of trouble and got good grades, he'd pay for their college education. But he's welching on that, and refuses to say anything about it.
BTW, White also does a TV ministry with that other "paragon of virtue," Jim Bakker.
