God Forbid - Marilyn Manson Coming to Seoul
http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200308/200308050015.html

The American rock band Marilyn Manson will play a concert in Seoul in October, after government authorities recently gave the promoters the nod for the show. Concert organizers had tried to bring the shock rock group here in 1999 and 2001 but the Korea Media Ratings Board withheld permission both times...

The editor of the local music magazine Hot Music, Kim Hun, said, "To ensure that we have diversity of culture, all concerts must be guaranteed the opportunity to be staged. This performance is evidence that our pop culture has matured."

On the other side of the issue, the music critic Lim Jin-mo said, "Certain religious groups and sectors of the public will not have a positive view of this. The pop music industry may have to bear the consequences."

3. They'd be surprised
They'd be surprised to find out that Marilyn is also a shrewd businessman who is articulate to a fault. If I'm not mistaken, he's also a Paleo-con.

5. Paleo-con? Nope.
Just someone who doesn't have a sense of humor that translates in print that clearly sometimes.

He only was half-heartedly joking about voting for Bush. He made that comment in reference to the fact that his music does better when people are trying to stomp it out, so for his music's sake, it might be a good thing if Bush won.

Listen to him in Bowling For Columbine and then tell me he's a paleo-con. ;-)

6. What is a Paleo-con?
I've never heard that term before.

8. Opposite of Bush-bot
Traditional conservative, not like Bush and his sycophants.

7. He's actually a Satanist
Not the wacked-out blood-drinking kind - the "do what feels good" kind (after Anton LaVey http://www.churchofsatan.org).

9. Though he is not against people getting confused about it
Image is everything in that biz. The more notorious he becomes the more teens will seek him out to break away from their parents. If you have ever seen a Japanese Visual Kai band then you know that MM is just breaking the surface of how far a band can go.

4. Seen Bowling for Columbine yet?
MM comes off as the most sane person in the entire movie (Moore included).

10. If he can broker a lasting Armistice (not a truce, mind you)

Then he derseves the Nobel Peace Prize.

Come to think of it, it may just take someone like him to do it. Hell, everyone else seems crazier than his persona (spending time fantasizing about their real or imagined WMD's. Like NK's really hell bent on taking out Seoul, or selling tactical nukes (if they have any that really work) to small time bidders.

At the very least, MM'd turn the place upside down- and if he could enlist Trent Reznor, the Blue Men and some old stallwarts like Alice and Ozzy, who knows what walls might fall!

A Gothic peace concert at the DMZ- what a concept?
