I detest November 1 to the very core of my being.
I know I'm the parent, but damn it's hard to hear the whining for more candy all day long. It is now locked in the garage and if one more child asks for it I'm sending it in with my husband to his work tomorrow. This has to be my least favorite day of the year.

4. I think Halloween Candy
MIght of been one of the few things I never gave my parents a hard time about. Cause I knew it was coming, I just had to do my best not to piss them off. . . and that sweet sweet delicious candy would be in my hands . . . .

Damn, there was no candy for Halloween this year . . . . I'm almost tempted to go out and buy a chocolate bar.

6. Give me your address and I'll mail you a couple of pounds.
My parents say I never gave them a hard time about it either. I must be a really crappy parent to have whiney begging children. :)

7. I let them eat as much as they want. Sort of.
And, over the next two-three days, I start taking candy out of the bags and putting it away.

Then, they think they've eaten it all. I hated the whining and this seems to work. Been doing it for over 10 years.

11. Yikes...
Am I a mean mom? I'd tell them if they whined about it one more time, all their candy would be mine.

I don't have much tolerance for whining. I broke 'em of it by telling 'em, "I can't understand you when you're talking in that voice. You have to speak normally." :P

12. I'm with you. Whining is the absolute worst.
I can tolerate a lot, but that drives me up the wall. I've handled it pretty much how you have. :)

19. You do your children a GREAT service
by breaking them of whining.

I did the same thing with my son. It works pretty well. When he does revert he just gets met with a big fat brick-wall no-way-Jose NO.

13. I thought you were gonna say....
....you hated November 1 because that's when Christmas stuff comes out in full force.

That's why I hate Nov. 1.

17. Illogical reasoning around here. Christmas stuff has been out since the middle...
of September. I kid you not. As soon as Target started clearing out the school supply section both Halloween AND Christmas stuff went up.

16. Look at it this way...
My wife gave some of the trick-or-treaters gummi candies shaped like body parts. I ate a gummi eyeball and a gummi baby's foot last night while we waited for more kids to show up at the door. At least your kids aren't begging you for the gummi eyeballs so they can try to gross each other out. (Or are they...?)
