Andy Serkis deserves a giant f**king award
I thought his portrayal of Gollum was Oscar-caliber, as everyone did, but I forgot he played eccentric record producer Martin Hannett in 24 Hour Party People, which I just watched again today. His portrayal was great. He was completely spot on as the drugged up, violent, and incredibly gifted producer for Joy Division. There is a scene on the DVD that was deleted from the final cut which should qualify Serkis for more praise: it's a scene of Martin Hannett coming home to his Manchester flat, cooking up a nasty dose of heroin, and shooting it into his hand. Easily one of the most disturbing things I have ever scene, it made me cringe. Sick, sick, sick, but altogether convincing.

:toast: A toast for Andy Serkis, one of the best actors out there!

2. Well, if you like films about music, Manchester, and the 80s
You might very well enjoy it. I love the damn thing. But I also love the era and the sounds.

3. YEs, he was excellent!
a few weeks he was here doing a book signing, so I had the privelege of hearing him do the good gollum/bad gollum speach from Two Towers. Brilliant!

6. I think that the Smeagol/Deagol bit at the beginning of ROTK-
should have been at the beginning of The Two Towers instead, to give people unfamiliar with the story a little more background on the character. to me, it kind of seemed out of place on ROTK.

8. oh they could have kept that as well...
it didn't relly last that long.

I just thought it seemed out of place in ROTK...
BTW- I also would have put the scene with the finding of the pilantier(sp?) at the end of TT instead of the beginning of ROTK.
