Do any other ladies here not really care for shopping?
 I'm OK with it sometimes, if I'm going out with friends, but in general it's not really my thing. I need to go out and buy a dress for my (co-ed) honor fraternity's formal tonight, and all of my girlfriends are busy so it looks like I'm stuck going alone. x( I was just wondering if any other women felt the same way, or if I'm some kind of anomaly... :P :hi: Peace.

3. That sounds like it could be fun...
Unfortunately, I've never been thin, and I'm a college student so I'm currently not doing so great on the money issue. :( I really do need a somewhat nice dress, though, since all I have right now are a few skirts and blouses.

I'm with you, sweetie...

I'll do it if I have to...

But, I much prefer to shop via catalog! I have several that I trust, and it's sooooooooo much easier!

You are not an anomaly!

but since this is kind of a last-minute thing (I hadn't been planning to go, but then I realized I'm running out of events to attend and I need to meet my quota), I don't think that would be possible. ;) Unless you know of any catalogs that can ship instantaneously? :P haha, kidding. Thanks for the reassurance - you are very sweet!

13. Hate it
I don't even like to shop with friends. And I don't think being thin or having lots of money would motivate me to like it either.

I make myself go shopping a couple of times a year just to check out all the fashions and sytles and colors that are in vogue. But I rarely buy anything when doing so.

If I need to buy something then usually my excursion is limited to just that purpose - assuming I don't buy the item online.

:D I especially love going into old/rare book shops - I love the way old books smell for some reason, and the whole atmosphere is just so cool! :hi: We have one here in Williamsburg, and the first time my friends and I went there, we were so entranced by the whole thing that we didn't notice we were the only people in there after a while...it was 45 minutes past closing time when the shop owner kindly asked us to leave so she could close up! She was very nice about the whole thing, and I've been back several times when I have a little extra time and I want to do some browsing (and maybe purchasing, if I have some extra cash and see something I like). :)

Honey, I even hate it more than before, and I have to hear the word "cute" upward of 300 times a day. Women try on PANTIES in the dressing rooms. Do you ever get riled up "seeing a 'pull' on a sweater"? some people actually do! Life's a shit sandwich sometimes.

I can't stand the smell of used clothes. And at Goodwill, they STILL want a discount if there is a pull somewhere on a sweater, or a button missing, or a stain---FUCK! YOU'RE IN GOODWILL FOR CRISSAKES AND THE SWEATER IS ONLY 2.99!

Forget dressing rooms. I despise those upright coffins with the mirror that makes you look great but then when you get the thing home you look like a fat fuck.

27. EEEW! DRESSING ROOMS! Pruney gooey used clothes! I like thrift shops
a lot, but there's a depressing pathos to trying one someone's duds in a mirrored coffin. I never try shit on, I grab it & get tf out. I'm aware of my size somewhat. When a woman asks me in the store I work in if this would look as cute as that I never know what to say.

31. I hate customers.
I worked at LL Bean in North Conway way back when. We slacker employees had the motto of "never make eye contact with the customer." If you did, you were fucked. They wanted you to run and get them another size---in an outlet! Or they asked about baby sizes. Screw that, I can barely figure out small medium and large, never mind 3 month, 6 month, 18 month. We should all be naked anyhow.

38. LL Bean? I thought those customers were self -sufficient!
Oh, wait. Maybe I'm thinking of Bass Pro Shops. How I'd love to work in one of those if I had to do retail.

As it is where I work, if someone wants a discount they stare at the sweater or something with HUGE approximated gravity and say "are you sure you don't have another one of those?" (like we keep them in the back) or "what can we do about this?" (life's a shit sandwich, fraulein. suck it up) or "There's a spot on this. Could you call another store & see if they have the same without a spot?" (put it through the washer. Does the trick)

Don't know size no's either. Don't care either. But I'm turning out to be a good actor. :P

I used to assist manage a retail store in North Conway. Anytime a customer gave me shit, I just stopped and stared at them without saying anything back. They got confused and ended up leaving. It's not worth getting into it with any of them. They become monsters on the other side of the cash register.

49. In general, I hate it.
I'm old and fat and nothing looks good on me, and all the jeans are cut so your flab hangs over the waistband (frankly, those pants look terrible on just about everybody) and those skimpy little tight tops that the flab falls out from under, and it seems like they don't even make clothes for people older than 19, so I just hang on to my old stuff, hoping it outlasts me.

I don't mind browsing around in bookstores, though.

63. I HATE shopping.
I'm NOT a shoe freak. I have the bare minimum - sneaks, sandals for summer, some loafers for winter, and snow boots now that I'm in WI. Oh and I went out a bought some low heels to interview in.

I get what I have to get in order to be "clothed". I don't just "go shopping". I go if I HAVE to.

64. Don't like shopping and that can be a problem
Dislike it so much that I make hasty, and therefore bad, choices just to get it over with.

69. I'm not a lady, but I can't stand it when you do this shit....
Edited on Sun Nov-18-07 03:57 AM by TK421
I can't stand looking at a display for about a half an hour before making up my mind that it's what I really want..but I'm also not a browser, and just want to get the hell out of there, myself

Hardly an unbiased opinion, but what the hell...I'm just trying to hit on some of the lounge ladies, I suppose.....and this may not be a good start

edited to add: I don't mean that YOU do this, just a general kind of statement in my drunken stupor

My xmas shopping is 95% complete...all online, mind you. The only thing I plan to buy in a store is the wrapping paper, etc.

71. I can take it or leave it.
I usually know what I'm looking for, get it, and leave. There are times when I need an idea about something---usually a gift for someone---and I may have to look a little while before I find the right thing. But shopping's never been a thrill for me, nor do I hate it.

I don't hate shopping, but I don't live for it like some women I've known. A friend of mine LOVES shopping, and I've seen her get depressed when she hasn't bought anything new in a while. It's insane. :o :D

I will say I hate malls. I avoid them at all costs, especially at this time of year. :scared:

75. I don't like it
I never have gone shopping just for the sake of it and never have done it just because of enjoying it, as soon do.

I hate going with other people, because they stop and look at stuff I'm not interested in, and I just stand there bored.

I have a feeling it is a good thing to be interested in, in that good shoppers save money and I probably don't. They are aware of what is selling for how much and where, and I just can't get interested in that, so have probably spent more than necessary over the years. But I just can't get excited over brands and prices.

76. Hate it with a passion
Unfortunately that means my last two trips resulted in clothes that didn't fit right and a waste of money, because I just wanted to get out of there.

77. My sister and mother are marathon shoppers
and when I go I am always stumped. My sister will drop $200 on a pair of jeans and get two pair, plus three pairs of shoes that cost almost that much. And that shopping spree is weekly. Trust me. That doesn't include the nails, hair, or makeup (Sephora anyone?). My mom has a purse that costs over $600. I just nod my head tell them they look nice (which is true they are both beautiful) and go about my business. Wow, I guess I just wont spend that kind of money in my lifetime. And I am A-OK with that. My jeans cost 40 bucks and I almost died. LOL. I would rather go see the redwoods and take a trip.
