12. Man they'll let anyone in the jail huh?

While you were doing hard time, the Chiefs of Kansas City beat the Packers of Green Bay in the hall-of-fame bowl in Canton Ohio. The game was called due to boredom in the third quarter. The score was 9-0.

con me into recommending that he be dropped out of the boot camp program & sent back to a regular prison.

Prison is where they take you to do HARD TIME. Thank your stars you didn't do anything to end up there.

4. Actually, it was prison.

St. Croix Correctional Center, to be specific.

As a psychologist in the Wisconsin correctional system, I assure you I know the difference.

And I didn't spend the night there. Only the day. I generally do that once or twice a month. Psych evals, urgent therapy, etc.

10. I hate going to prison.

It feels like going to prison. I guess that's why I did the post the way I did. That and seeing a chance to mislead someone. :evilgrin:
Fortunately my job only requires me to spend 1 or 2 days a month there. Unfortunately I also have to spend a lot of time in jails, but that's another story.

14. About the jails you mean?

Well, I'm the only Corrections psychologist assigned to probation & parole cases in a 16-county region. Whenever P&P "clients" get in trouble, their agents have the option of throwing them in jail for a few days to "get their attention." They sometimes want the offender psychologically evaluated to try to figure out what the problem is. Also, whenever judges want presentence investigations done, P&P agents do the investigations & make recommendations on sentencing. The agents (or sometimes the judges) often want psych evals done as a part of the investigations. In all of these cases, I have to go to the jails in the various counties to do the evals. So in any given month I might have to go into anywhere from one to several jails to do the evaluation interviews.

The travel involved sounds taxing, and the patients you encounter in this setting must be discouraging. If you can find one that responds, that you can help, this must be a truly bright spot. You are doing good and important work. Thanks for sharing the story.:-)
