3. If they finally tap Miller's "The Dark Knight" series from the mid-80s, this will rock.
"Batman Begins" makes it seem that they will.

4. It will have to be faithful Miller or it will suck on a grand scale.
Batman and the Joker will need to beat the ever-loving beejezis out of each other. It will have to be brutal, real, and intense. If it's nothing more than Heath Ledger and Christian Bale tossing a couple of choreographed punches around, count me out.

Shortly after the actual Dark Knight comic was released, someone...might have even been Miller himself...tossed around the idea of Clint Eastwood playing Batman. The Dark Knight Batman was a leathery, tough son of a bitch. Christian Bale can't pull that off. He might be able to pull it off better than Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer or George Clooney, but could you imagine a beat-to-shit, ragged Clint Eastwood as Batman and a really, really pissed off Jack Nicholson reprising the role of the Joker?

I can.

:toast:

5. I think Bale is an excellent actor
maybe he's too young to pull off "leathery" but, I think Bale has a certain intensity that the role requires.

I think Clooney would also be a very good Batman, if he actually had a decent script and a director that didn't suck.

8. I agree, but a critical element of "Dark Knight" was Batman's age...
...and if that's not a critical element of the movie, then it's a Batman movie, not the "Dark Knight" movie.

11. That is true
Eastwood can certainly play "leathery" with the best of them.

While they can do wonders with makeup these days, the end of "Batman Begins" makes me think the "Dark Knight" movie will be more like Batman, Year 2 rather than the aging Batman of the Dark Knight graphic novels from the mid 80s.

10. That looks awesome. Finally, a joker who looks
like a psychotic, vicious clown. I hope the part is written just as well. :)

14. Dammit, Cesar Romero OWNS that character.
I refuse to watch any Batman movie that doesn't cast Cesar Romero as the Joker showing off his mad surfing skillz.
