It was hosted by Hartnell College in Salinas ("the salad bowl of the world") and was the mythical junior college championship of the state. I think the last one must've been played in the late '60s.

My dad took me once, in 1964 or '65, when Hartnell played Fresno City. Hartnell had then a fullback named Rocky Thompson who went on to a brief career with the New York Giants.
