In this thread we praise great ice cream treats!

The it's It.

Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies, then covered in chocolate. In my youth, they used to have a stand at Playland at the Beach in SF and they would make thm right before your eyes. the chocolate would be dripping down your arm. No trip to SF was complet unless we went to the IT Stand.

2. It's-it is still being made

Their headquarters are in Burlingame, but they were manufacturing It's-it's in Suisun, California last I saw. Bummer when they torn down Playland and built condominiums. Laughing Sal is still around, though.

6. Bananas Foster

A specialty in New Orleans, this is bananas sauteed in butter, then placed on top of vanilla ice cream in a bowl. Finally some rum or banana liqeuer is poured over it and set afire. The hot bananas melt the ice cream a little and it all becomes a soupy but delicious mess.

7. Home Made Tin Roof

Vanilla ice cream, un-blanched Spanish peanuts and chocolate syrup. A close second would be a Zoo from Farrell's. Not because it was any good taste wise. Because it was awe inspiring.

8. I haven't seen them in years, but the local dairy made "snowballs."

They were vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut and topped with a cherry. They were heavenly.
