Okay I'm running late anyway but I leave our apartment at 8AM and I live about 4 miles, at most, from work.

Need gas so I stop in at the 7-11 hit the ATM ($1.50 in charges for the convenience) "$10 on pump two please" I hand her a twenty. The two people in front of me that were so damned interesting that each got a chat-up with the cashier seemed to have drained the cash register of tens or fives. "Please wait for the drop" she says. Change in hand I go out to pump the gas

It took me at least ten minutes to pump ten dollars of premium gas ($1.75 a gallon)

Okay I 'm late anyway and hungry so why not go to McDonald's (I think listening to NPR drew me there)....."I'm sorry sir you will have to wait for your hash browns can you please park over there it only be few minutes. tick tock tick tock Finally they bring me my breakfast.

For some reason known only to God and the driver of the Ford/Chevy taurus/grocery getter 5 cars in front of me the green light does not mean go anymore. The cars in the right hand lane are wizzing by at such a pace that there is no way to get around. We start moving our gas dependent machines, I say "we" but that excludes the guy in the truck in front of me, oh now we are moving uh-oh yellow light, he runs it and I sit at the light for 5 minutes.

Finally I get to the parking lot and because the slum lords who own it (and we pay for the right to park there) haven't cleaned out all the snow from LAST WEEK so people are parked horizontal in the parking spots and I have to park out on the street and go move my car in two hours of those evil beasts in the three wheeled parking scooters are going to get more of my money.

It took me 45 minutes to travel 4 miles.

I just bit into my Egg McMuffin and it is cold.

There are some days when it really doesn't pay to get up in the mornings... sounds like this was one of them.

8. I got a parking ticket

I just went out and I got a parking ticket. I was SUPPOSED to have about 10 minutes left but there it was a parking ticket. Still no spots available in the parking lot.
