Sardonic Rock 'n Roll band names: Post them here
Rock 'n roll was all about turning one's proverbial nose up on the establishment and authority. What better way to say "neener" than to create a mocking name for one's band? Did the Beatles start this trend? That's what I think, and suddenly the Monkees and a whole slew of bands followed to this day. Add yours to the list!

:bounce:

Or, do we just bombard the Lounge with various threads, copycats, etc, that all have something to do with Tap? Hell, I say we do it all!

17. You are an "11"!
It's funny. "11" could be argued to not have been a Tap original idea; I don't know if you've seen the movie "10" with Bo Derek, but when asked by a shrink to describe Bo on a scale of 1-10, Dudley Moore says "11".

2. I wanted to name my band Dead Frog... but unfortunately that's already taken. :(
Which I guess isn't that big a problem, since I never got around to actually starting a band.

4. The Pogues
Originally named Pogue Mahone — pogue mahone being the Anglicisation of the Irish póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my ass".

10. Lovin' Spoonful
That name didn't mean much to me until recently, when I found out what it referred to. Now whenever an LS song comes on, and there are plenty on XM 60's, I give a little eeeeuuuwwww.

20. Brown Sugar?

I always was under the impression that "brown sugar" was slang for heroin. Is it something else?

16. Not according to Urbandictionary.com or Wikipedia:
Urbandictionary.com:

"A dose of heroin given by injection. The name is from the preparation of the heroin by mixing the drug with water in a spoon over a heat source."

Wikipedia:

"The band's name was inspired by some lines in a song of Mississippi John Hurt called the "Coffee Blues"." (If you look up the lyrics to this tune, it says "lovin' spoonful" over and over again. Could be coffee, maybe not. You never know with the blues.)
