She wanted to cover up a scar, so we acquiesced.
My son had his lip pierced but found it a pain and let it grow over. However, his ears are stretched to 1"

Peroxide is NEVER to be used on puncture wounds (neither is triple antibiotic ointment), and should *not* be used anything beyond sparingly as it inhibits the healing process. Alcohol burns like a mother-fucker and dehydrates tissues, also prolonging the healing process.

A very gentle antibacterial soap and/or a sea salt soak is more than sufficient.

controversial around my house. I am festooned with scars and probably have surgeon's initials carved here and there. My Wife is Catholic. The Body is a Temple and all that.

A number of years ago my Daughter got her tongue pierced. There was no negotiation. My Wife went totally bonkers (enough for both of us, saving me the trouble). My Daughter was terribly upset (it was not her plan to cause such a reaction). She now has 3 tattoos. My don't like it but what can you do?

I got mine pierced a little over a year ago. My parents hated it too, but I'm 22, so they can't say much to me about it, haha.

Make sure she takes good care of it. Antibacterial liquid soap, alcohol free mouth wash, salt water rinses, and no playing with it, especially not if her hands aren't clean.

Might be less of an issue depending on your location. Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Boston, or New York, it'd probably be fine.

It's all about using good judgment unless/until you get a career where your appearance doesn't matter. I'm not into piercings, but tattoos are right up my alley. However, I know better than to get any facial/forearm/ankle/lower bicep/neck work done. In this state (FL), I could expect never to be hired for anything other than the worst retail jobs unless I got really lucky.

Even though Pittsburgh can be very parochial, I've never had a problem getting a job with tattoos or piercings (I did take most of mine out when Dropkid was born, mostly for my own safety). I'm now a supervisor at a cancer research facility, and deal with lowly lab-rats and high-up mucky muck Doctor guys all day long. I've never had an issue. Maybe it's a confidence and comfort with self thing. I've noticed, people who fidget and fuss with their stuff (be it a piercing or a tattoo) don't as easily get the job.

15 is a tough age for daughters, but not as tough as 16 and 17.
