Britney plans liposuction of abdomen, hips & thighs, breast lift, change of implants, tummy tuck...
http://thesuperficial.com/2007/12/britney_spears_is_concerned_wi.php

Britney Spears has become increasingly concerned with her appearance. Instead of promoting her album or planning a tour to revive her dying career, Britney is gearing up for a slew of plastic surgery, according to OK! Magazine:

“She's always worrying about what she looks like,” one friend of the "Toxic" songtress reveals to OK!. “She checks pictures of herself on the Internet every night and criticizes every single one."

Britney had lip injections done in October and her line-up of cosmetic work will reportedly include her second nose job and third boob job:

On her checklist: liposuction of the abdomen, hips and thighs ($18,000); a breast lift with change of silicone implants ($25,000); a mini tummy tuck ($18,000); and work on her nose ($20,000). Grand total: $81,000!

Dear Britney,

I’m into writing letters this week. Now that I know you spend every night critiquing pictures of yourself on the Internet, I thought I’d take a minute and extend the proverbial olive branch by recommending an awesome plastic surgeron. The guy’s fantastic. His name is Dr. Jan Adams and he did some amazing work on Kanye West’s mom. I even hear there’s a Starbucks next to his office. You should seriously check him out. Like right now. In fact, I’ll even book the appointment. No need to thank me. It’s what friends do.

Smooches,

The Superficial Writer

1. she's too darned busy for diet and exercise I guess
I remember reading an interview with Cher once and she spent 6-8 hours a day on exercise

another interview with Shirley McClaine who spent that kind of time daily also to stay in shape.

they both said nearly the same thing, "My looks *are* my job, I work at them"

5. I don't see it as that
so much as I see it as a commentary on what is expected of those young women.

She has two very young children. Her body should be in shape but not perfect-not the body of a 12 year old boy. Let's be honest about her body: it doesn't look all that bad for someone who had back-to-back children a bit over a year ago.

We both know it takes time to get back in shape. Truthfully, she doesn't look all that bad. The pressure she is feeling right now must be incredible.

IMO, she has the worst people possible around her. She needs strong people around who can help her realize that self worth does not come from a scalpel or a bottle of pills. Until she learns that lesson she'll always be a mess.

7. no mentally healthy person has 8 hours a day to spend on exercise
cher had chronic fatique for many years so we can see where being 1) underweight and 2) bulimic like levels of exercise gets you there

mcclaine's job was being an actor, not her looks, which were never all that -- if she or cher or anyone think they are famous based just on appearance, they are naive, the world is full of beautiful young girls who are younger and fitter no matter how compulsively cher etc. may exercise

anyone who devotes 6 to 8 hours a day on exercise is mentally ill and has a problem -- exercise bulimia at best eats your life energy and self esteem even if it doesn't wear away your joints

britney spears has had two children, her body is not terrible for someone who has had two children, there is a point at which our standards are simply ridiculous and unrealistic

she can have all the exercise or all the surgery she likes -- there will always be a younger girl who hasn't had children who looks better in a bikini

at some point the answer is to recognize that our society will never accept any mother's body (except maybe uma thurman's) as being toned or pretty enough, if your job is to be perfect, your career is not going to last forever, accept yourself for what you are and invest the money you earned at your peak

our society's standards are cruel and impossible if you are not a barbie doll molded in a factory

be honest--do YOU exercise 6 hours a day? and if you know someone who does, would you honestly want her life?

18. Shirley MacLaine is a dancer
Edited on Thu Dec-06-07 05:27 PM by supernova
and yes they often spend 6-8 or more hours a day in rehearsal and practice.

edit: Just ask any hoofer trying to make it on Broadway.

Dancers are VERY in shape. No need to overdiet at all. Though some ballerinas are anorexic.

3. Before she resorts to plastic surgery, she could try
washing her face, not eating fast food every day, showering once in a while, shaving under her armpits, and taking those fugly cheap-ass hair extensions out.

brain transplant.

Common sense, anyone?

I really feel sorry for that girl. And more for her kids.

6. In case you missed it, the writer is suggesting she use the doctor who killed
...Kanye West's mom. That's fucked up. I will admit that I watched and laughed when Britney made a fool of herself on the MTV Video Awards, but suggesting to her that she kill herself is really really fucked up.

11. One sick girl
She thinks all of her problems will be resolved by going to someone else to fix the outside of her. She still doesn't have a clue that her problems are internal -- she has a lot of work to do on herself, instead of looking for others to fix her.

15. Good grief, she's 26 years old!
If she feels like she needs a total plastic surgery makeover at that age, how's she going to feel 20 years down the road when her lifestyle really catches up with her? No matter how much she spends on her appearance, her looks will fade with time - unless she develops the kind of character that makes aging faces beautiful.

She'd be well advised to spend that money on a decent psychiatrist, or finding some other interest that takes her out of her miserable self-absorption. Otherwise I don't think she's got much of a future.

Sad, really.
