A friend's kid's IPOD made it through the laundry alive.
Washer,dryer and it kept on ticking.

1. My sons DS did the same thing a few months back.
I was floored, but it's not that uncommon. The devices are usually cushioned by the clothes around them, and the dryer is hot enough to vaporize the water back out of them, but not so hot that it will seriously damage them. As long as they don't turn on WHILE they're submerged, they can often make it through unscathed.

And he's washed his DS cartridges more times than I can count. So far, only one has fried.
