Mrs. V. broke her wrist. The ends of both bones

radius and ulna. She broke a fall with the heel of her hand. The x-rays made me weak; I can't begin to imagine how she feels.

She is now attempting to fall asleep. Even with vicodin on board, I don't think she's going to sleep a wink. Tomorrow we'll go see an orthopedic surgeon to see if surgery is required.

Last time I saw her this miserable was when she had chicken pox. When I put her to bed she was shivering, but not cold. Shivering from pain, anger, and grief, I imagine. I hope i can take good enough care of her. But if I sucked and that made her pain go away - well, I'd rather I sucked. Know what I mean?

It's kicking in all right but it's barely helping. We're seeing the surgeon this afternoon (I wish it were earlier) and we're going to get percocet. Not asking - demanding. My poor baby.

that must just hurt like hell for Mrs. V, and for you to have to watch her endure it, too.

You will take wonderful care of her - just being you and loving her will help her through it. And just ask her to tell you if you've forgotten something, or if she needs something you haven't thought of. My husband loves me dearly - I know that - but sometimes he just can't or doesn't think of everything I need if I can't do it myself (I've had some bad ankle sprains, etc., where I've had to depend on him for a week or so at a time) and I just am blunt and then thankful when he responds.

Anyway, you know that. I hope surgery isn't required. :hug: :hug: :hug: to both of you.

9. I forgot to open her Diet Coke this morning. :-(

But I did hear her in the kitchen, rattling bottles trying to get her vitamins. I jumped out of bed and ran in there. She had the cutest sheepish look on her face.

She is so STUBBORN, and she knows it. She will continue to try to do things she can't do just to be able to say "I can do this, I can to this." Denial?

My mom just did something similar. She had to have surgery right away. She's in a lot of pain.

I about fainted last night at what the ER doc said. She came in first w/out the x-rays, made my baby scream, and on her way out to get the x-rays, she said, "Let's hope you don't need to have surgery tonight" -- the implication obvious: she thought surgery would be required. :(
