It's Teddy Bear Toss night!!!
Waiting for the first goal.

A Teddy bear toss is a popular Christmas season promotion at many minor and junior hockey arenas throughout North America. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and to throw them onto the ice when the home team scores its first goal. The toys are then gathered up to be donated as Christmas presents to hospitals and charities. In many cases, the players themselves personally donate some of the bears to children at area hospitals. The tradition is said to have started in Kitchener, Ontario at Kitchener Rangers games.

Here's a video of what one looks like:

3. Oh no! Not the prophet!
I didn't attend. I gave up my usual seat so my brother could take my nephew to his first Teddy Bear toss. He had a great time. I watched it on TV, though. Filled up two full sized pickup trucks, just like the video.

"I love sports. I just can't get next to hockey. I think Americans like to savor situations. One down, bottom of the ninth, first and third, left-handed batter, right-handed pitcher, infield at double-play depth, here's the pitch. Scoring in hockey seems to come from outta nowhere. Even the play-by-play guy is always shocked. 'Lepettier passes to Huckenchuck at the blue line, Huckenchuck of course was traded from Winnipeg for a case of Labatt's after sitting out last season with... Oh my God! He scores!'"
