Fuck! @#$%&!
With the weather doing whatever the fuck it's doing out there... I can count 24 places I'm in pain, and three distinctly different types of pain. That's despite the painkillers. x(

Somebody please come over here and shoot me now!

I'm already pretty heavily medicated and I'm getting jack shit done at work because I can't concentrate.

You can tell I'm in severe pain because I only start swearing like this when my sustained pain level hits about a 6. And between bouts of swearing I don't speak above a whisper because of the shallow breathing and all that. People who know me can glance at me, or hear be speak and just KNOW how much pain I'm in. Yeah, people are commenting today. The whole office is using me to predict the weather this weekend.

Fuck! @#$%&! This shit Hurts!

Thank you for letting me rant. :(

5. I'm leaving work early. I can't get anything done today.
This is what's finally going to push me out onto disability. If I can't work everytime it rains or snows I'm not much use to anybody. :(

I hate having to think about that and plan for being usless, but that's what's coming down the road. My work requires too much concentration and precise expertise to sustain when I'm like this on a regular basis. :(

And now I can feel the depression setting in that follows the severe pain. That's why I'm thinking about not being able to work. Okay, time to use some meditation techniques and not allow myself to keep thinking the bad shit.

10. Oh, it is.
I live in Los Angeles. ;)

It's our version of winter here now, lows in the mid-30s, highs in the mid-60s. Really doesn't get much colder than that!

Another very gentle . You're in my thoughts today.

I am sorry Thom. I hurt pretty bad today too - I am dying to get home so that I can pilfer one of Mr MB's painkillers. Our doc gave him pills for falling on the ice but told me I just had to deal with the fibromyalgia pain :wtf:

Hope you are feeling better soon friend :loveya:

8. If that's your GM then I hope you can find a Rheumie or Pain Management
doc in your area. That's a shitty way for a doctor to handle your pain. x(

11. Cursing at the weather is the best thing I can do.
I get erratic moods and emotions when the pain gets severe and erratic like this. I really, absolutely, don't want to take it out on the people around me. So I make a deliberate effort to be mad at the weather and at abstract things, but not at people.

Meditation training really helps. I can't stay calm, but I can mostly control where I throw the anger. I imagine i'd be a total asshole to everyone around me otherwise. x(

12. Those same two coworkers mentioned to the boss
that they'd like to go there for our company christmas dinner next week! Can you imagine the nerve?

The boss told them we're going to Tavern On The Green this year. :)

It's one of the perks of being in top-end management consulting is that we periodically get to go to really great restaurants. :)

21. One of the network admins over in IT
has offered me Rum or Vodka. He keeps both at his desk for some reason. The same bottles for years, and we've never seen him drink the stuff. I think it's just part of his image. He reguarly offers a shot to anyone having a hard day. :)

The amount of painkillers I have in me today, there's no way I'd even get close enough to smell alcohol. :P

he'd love to hear from you and get some good thoughts/wishes to distract him from the pain. :)

I'm hanging in here as well as I can. Though it would be great if someone could remove the knives that must be sticking out of me right now. :(

26. I'm in that brief period of equalibrium right now
where I can still feel the pain but I don't really care.

Any more meds and I'd be high and a bit out of it, which I really hate.
Any less meds and I'd still be cursing and gritting my teeth, which I also really hate.

So right now, for as long as this lasts, I'm doing okay.

28. Seeing as how you're in tech, maybe you could telecommute?
from time to time, on days like these?

I might suggest moving someplace where the weather is less icky, but I wouldn't know quite where: it's even been a little rough out here this month. Besides, I understand the dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker; my stepdad is one (yes, the repuke!).

Maybe someday I can provide I&R to someone who's actually in our agency's service area... :-)

29. I would SO love to work from home on days like this.
But my specialization requires me to be in the office. Some of my work is so confidential it can't leave the finance department, so I have to work in two different offices in the same building. A lot of it is still paper, and papertrails and documentation.
:(
