hallelujah! Ms Uly not only passed her pre-calc class
at age 40...she made an A. This after a string of Fs and Ws in college math classes stretching back to the late Reagan administration.

We have a little way left to go before she finally graduates - she's changed both colleges and majors more times than I can count - but the way is pretty much clear now. She worked her ass off this semester, and is now the proud owner of a lot more belief in herself.

:toast:, baby.

7. she had a great tutor this semester.
I tried to help for years, but "tutoring by spouse" wasn't the best option, we found. :D

9. Hey, I'm in precal now!
It's an interesting class, really. Glad she did well in it--she sounds like a math phobe like my mother was/is. :)

10. Give Ms. Uly my congratulations!
:toast:

I've been there. I was a math dunce all the way through high school, got by only "with a little help from my friends,"but then when I started taking math again when I was in my thirties (the reasons are a long story), it was as if the math part of my brain had matured or something. Suddenly, I could do A-level work in trigonometry and college algebra.

Unfortunately, I had a horrible prof for calculus (stood in front of the class all bug-eyed--literally---and mumbled incoherently, never collected or discussed homework), so I washed out at that point.

Let's hope Ms. Uly gets a better instructor when she takes on calculus. :-)

12. I will, my friend!
Thanks! :hi:

And there's definitely something to the idea that a few years on the brain often helps.
