The problem is that "society" encourage women to be self-conscious at the expense of self-confidence. If you have your self-confidence mastered -- that is, you realize that you are You, with or without your female "costume" on -- then no harm comes in playing the role. In my experience however, this is rarely the case. Women are encouraged to play the demeaning role of sex object before they even know who they are as individuals.
