How many of us are ready to handle 8-12 inches
of snow?

Are you prepared to possibly be stranded in your house for a time with no power?

:P

I don't think I even have any candles in the house. :(

Guess I'll have to go to my sisters' house if I lose lights.

Oh well, her house is nicer than mine so I can deal with that!

5. I keep meaning to buy some candles...
We've been in the dark before...How boring it was! After a while, we decided to leave and go walk around the cemetery across the street...

7. I hate it and it is boring. - I bought
a wind up radio. It's OK but you have to wind it about every 15 minutes and that gets old fast.

Last time we lost lights I went to the AMVETS hall/bar and they didn't have lights either

but they had booze and music and other house orphans to talk to! ;)

2. It'd take more than that to shut things down around here.
Even the remote parts of the county are dug out within 24 hours.

3. Sure...
at least most of the time. But we've almost always got spare batteries and flashlights and lanterns and stuff. And we've got a fireplace in the living room and a wood stove down in the basement.

8-12 inches of snow wouldn't knock out the power, though. Usually.

12. well, our power used to go out in winter periodically
but not for very long.

One time after a rare tornado in the summer, we were without power for about 5-6 days. Bathing a toddler and getting him to bed by flashlight got pretty old.

In the winter, it wouldn't be good - we don't really have any non-electric heaters...

13. We're all set. We have:
-A full tank of propane for the fireplace "logs."

-Two Aladdin lamps for reading light, and half a dozen books from the library.

-1.75 liters of Viking Fjord Vodka, and orange juice to match.

-3 packs of Parliament Lights.

-Two APS 1000 VA battery backups.

-And a generator, with 15 gallons of gasoline to feed it. We have a deal with the neighbors; we'll refrigerate the food and beer, and they'll bring the shovels.
