Somewhere beyond the sea...
Somewhere beyond the sea
somewhere waiting for me
my lover stands on golden sands
and watches the ships that go sailin

Somewhere beyond the sea
she's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
then straight to her arms
I'd go sailin'

It's far beyond the stars
it's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
my heart will lead me there soon

We'll meet beyond the shore
we'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
and never again I'll go sailin'

I know beyond a doubt
my heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet (I know we'll meet) beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
and never again I'll go sailin'

no more sailin'
so long sailin'
bye bye sailin'...
move on out captain

1. Captain Nemo sailed away.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XX2cydVQci8

Under the surface so crystal clear
Everyone was really tense
Waiting down there
He had his own world just like I had mine
We'll go separate ways 'til the next time
There are no words to say as
My friend swims away

Captain Nemo said, "okay"
(five, four, three, two, one)
Then I raised my hand and waved
Captain Nemo went away
(Love me when I'm gone)
Left me all alone, Nemo's going home

And as I watched him, police boats approached
An alien force haunting us like ghosts
"Wish I could stay here and play for a while
But I must be on my way..."
The warmest of smiles
Then he dived into the waves among the other whales

Captain Nemo said, "okay"
(five, four, three, two, one)
Then I raised my hand and waved
Captain Nemo went away
(Love me when I'm gone)
Left me all alone, Nemo's going home...

7. I like Bobby Darin's version, but prefer the original, composed and sung by Trenet
The song was originally composed and sung by Charles Trenet, one of France's most famous singer/songwriters. I think Bobby Darin was great at adapting European hit tunes to make them American hits, like Beyond The Sea, Mack The Knife, and Milord. He was smart, because he was tapping into a source of material and Americanizing it where maybe other singers hadn't thought of it. Trenet's original version is also about the sea and has beautiful lyrics:
