So I'm sitting here in the Great Hall of the Ahwahnee Lodge in Yosemite right now
Watching it snow big heavy flakes. Huge fire going in the fireplace. Listening to a chorus practice. Ah...this is the life!

Here's a link to the Lodge:

I wish you all could see this!

It's so incredible.

25. You just ruined my day.
I'm at work, it's been raining, my feet are wet. I miss that place so much. Are you staying at the hotel too?

3. Have I told you how much I hate you?
I've always wanted to stay there.

but, NO, Camp Curry for me, those tents on platforms. Don't you have to reserve a decade in advance to stay at that lodge there?

I had a yearly ritual of going to Yosemite in late May, when the snow runoff in the falls was at it's peak, and before the mass onrush of tourists. Spectacular. Prettiest place on earth, or close to it.

5. We stay here every Dec for the Bracebridge dinner
It's really worth a stay if you can make it some time. It's one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at.

Things are looking a lot like the pictures you posted. I just went around to take some pix, but won't be able to upload them till I get back home. I'll be sure and post some if you like.

21. Please do post some.
The other place I want to go in winter is Yellowstone. Imagine the geyser basins in snow.

Old Faithful Lodge is very cool, too.

22. I've been there in the summer.
I want to stay at the Od Faithful Lodge some winter. Harder for us to get there though.

I saw the building in person about 4 years ago for the first time. That lobby is unreal. It was almost like something out of a Tolkein story.

The rooms a old, but they've got so much character. Everything is way swank too. I'm so glad I can stay here.

17. Sounds fantastic
I've walked through it and thought it was gorgeous, and then went to camp 4 to do some bouldering. Being an Eact climber I never got into big walls like the have in the valley. Went to the start of the Nose route on El Cap and looked up. Damn but that is a big piece of stone.

19. I hope nobody's out climbing today
They would be very cold. Plus, they're predicting nearly 2 feet of snow!

I may not be able to go back to work and that would be just terrible. :)

24. Weren't parts of that lodge copied for The Shining movie?
I'm sure Stanley Kubrick saw photos of that place and designed parts of his 'Overlook Hotel' with them.
