Francis Coppola wines - anyone else ever try them?
I'm sitting here drinking Francis Coppola Rosso - the budget table wine. I think I paid about 7.99 for it.

Have you tried Coppola wines? What do you think?

1. I thought
Francis Coppola was a movie director. I didn't know he made wine. :-)

2. Yep, he does
Apparently it was a family business before he got into directing. There is also more expensive "diamond" line. I've seen both this one and the diamond line at the grocery store.

I must say, I'm enjoying it.

16. The Diamond Series wines are great.

$15 for what should be a $25 bottle of wine. Try the Zin. It's fantastic!

For a nice $10 red, Rancho Zabaco Dancing Bull 2001 Zinfandel is better than the Coppola Rosso, in my opinion.

25. Do you think it's better than Egre Bikaver?
It's a Hungarian red. Cheap here.

3. I drove right by the winery in Napa Valley!

I've tried some of his wines before, but it's been a while. I remember thinking they were pretty good, but nothing special.

7. Would love to do a wine country tour
if I ever get out to Cali. Why didn't you stop? :D

On the back label of my bottle it says:

My family has always made wine. To hear it from my Uncle Mikey these were not fancy wines, but everydya wines, wines that were on the dinner table each night. Our rosso captures the essence of those wines. I hope you enjoy it.

So He acknowledges that this bottle isn't for you know, fancy dining but for just knocking around the dinner table. And frankly lately I've chosen lots more expensive wines that tastes more like vinegar. x(

I've been looking for a really good quality, but cheap wine. This may do it.

10. We didn't have time to stop at every winery.
There are only about 2994534572394753 of them. :7

We stopped at Mondavi and Beringer (yeah, we should not have stopped at Mondavi - I think the United Farm Workers were protesting them at the time.)

I was there primarily to attend a wedding. I want to go back someday and do a longer tour of the place. My friend still lives there.

I've not had as much of that to tell if I like it or not.

15. Their Muscato d'Oro is REALLY good!
Especially with chocolate or other sweet stuff! :9 I bought some chocolate truffles at Beringer and shared those with the Muscato d'Oro with a woman I was seeing at the time. (Bow chicka bow bow)

4. They're terrific
The Rosso is great. So's the Bianco. His Zin is pretty good, but not terrific. My favorite, though it's twice as much as the Rosso, is his Claret. He also makes super expensive wines that I'm sure I'll never taste.

But his Rosso: I think it's a great value.

Cheers!

29. Yes, his Claret is excellent!
I do think the Rosso is a good value wine for the price as well. I've served it at dinner parties and it seems to appeal to a lot of different people's tastes - just like a good table wine should.

9. Do you like sweeter wines?
Cabs and syrahs tend toward the dry and chewy. I like it; but others might like sweeter stuff.

:D :hi:

I was never a big Godfather fan, but I must admit, the man knows his way around the grape. Besides, he gave us Sophia, who in turn gave us Lost in Translation. I think that's worthy of our support. Don't you?
