Poll question: Family Guy, Simpsons, King of the Hill, American Dad, Futurama - You Decide
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 06:04 PM by rndmprsn
These are some of my favorite animated shows...love them all, but family guy does it for me most of the time.

1. I picked "The Simpsons" just because it's been on for so long, with so many great episodes.
But as of right now I'd say "Family Guy" is the better show. But maybe it's just because I like the pushing-the-envelope, "shocking" kind of humor they often indulge in.

2. It's hard to decide because they're all so good!
They're each clever in different ways. I ultimately went with American Dad because of my avatar...and because I think Roger is a scream! :)

6. Of those, the Simpsons
I'd choose South Park if it was listed.

Family Guy is funny, but it's pretty simplistic.

8. King of the Hill
That show comes so close to reality sometimes it's scary, and most of the audience probably doesn't even realize it.

11. "The Critic"
Okay, "Futurama" got my vote but if the cartoon or live action program isn't a mere parody of a family, I'm more inclined to like it.

Mind you, "The Critic" and "Futurama" are intellectual too - and thus are both sins in today's society by default. :7

18. I loved "The Critic." That show was great, and too short-lived,
I particularly liked the kid from Easter Island.

12. The Simpsons
I've been watching the Simpsons almost as long as I've been alive. That show will always be my favorite. While I like all of those shows, Family Guy and Futurama tie for second. :D

21. I wish they would bring back "The PJs".
The PJs was excellent. Damned hilarious. It was a joint project by Eddie Murphy and Ron Howard, done in Claymation. It was as good as The Simpsons.

And the main character's name was......Thurgood Orenthal Stubbs, a/k/a "Goody". He was the maintenance guy "Hey Supa" (superintendent) in the projects.

I eventually figured out that Levi Stubbs was in The Four Tops. The first two names, I figured out pretty quickly. Opposite extremes in the world of famous black people.

Everybody wasn't squeaky clean like The Cosby Show. They had a crackhead named "Smokey" who wore a button that said "LOSE WEIGHT NOW, ASK ME HOW".

23. I voted Futurama
South Park a close second, with its great parodies and cultural satire.

Family Guy isn't very good. Their writing team are just some manatees in a large tank. They take "idea balls" and send them down a shaft; a jumbled collection of ideas then become a Family Guy joke (for example, balls about "Mexico", "Gary Coleman" and "date" become a joke about Peter going on a date with Coleman in Mexico).

Peter: "You think that's bad.... remember the time I went on a date with Gary Coleman in Mexico."

24. ...that was from a southpark episode
the one where cartman is trying to get it pulled off the air with bart simpson's help...a def classic!

but all jokes aside...i love family guy's surrealistic run-on-extended-story scenarios, even though they make no sense most of te time, just enough pop-cultural miscellany is inserted to make it "profound" funny.
