but you're right, they're very expensive.

It helps that I my favorite flowers are some of the less expensive ones. I love Irises, and Lillies, and Gladiolas, and Snapdragons. I really don't like roses very much.

It would be nice if there were more options to buy potted flowers instead of cut flowers.

The flower growing industry also seems to be abusing their suppliers in South America. It's almost like the farming equivilent of sweat-shops. :(

The demand for cut flowers is harming our planet. What was once a rare luxury for most people is now commonplace, with bouquets in every market and every city corner. How many are disposed of, unsold, I wonder? It's kind of sickening, despite the pleasure that flowers bring.

Which is why, despite my love of flowers, I rarely buy them anymore. Nobody buys me flowers, so that's a moot point anyway.

if potted flowers were more common that would be a much more environmentally sound gift. Those are often hard to find though, Because they require more care and cost to produce and transport.
