Ohio state fair cows mired in hair-raising scandal

Cows with hairpieces?

That's cheating, the Ohio Department of Agriculture says, and reason to disqualify three exhibitors at last year's state fair in Columbus.

Ohio Agriculture Director Fred L. Dailey said Wednesday that Kreg Krebs and his brother, Kenneth, who live outside Fredricksburg in Wayne County, and Scott Long of Clayton, Mich., tampered with two Holstein cows.

The three men are accused of gluing and painting hair from another part of the animal or from another animal or adding artificial hair to create straighter backs on the cows and enhance their appearance in the show ring, said department spokeswoman Melanie Wilt.

We just can't get enough attention here. We have to try hard to get the media's attention. We had Jim Traficant fix our cows up to look a little better. We banned gay marriage and want nothing to do with civil unions. We have county commissioners violating little girls. We are the home of Diebold. Oh, yeah, my very own congressman came up with Freedom Fries. This state is unbelieveable. Anyone have an extra room out there?

I lived in Ohio from 1979-1992, and found the Columbus area very liberal, then I moved to Cincinnati. What a culture shock! Is it still certain areas of the state that give the whole state a right-wing tint?

Fortunately I live in Eastern Ohio and can escape to Cleveland easily. The north coast is even more liberal than Columbus.
