7. The best came from.....

an old journeyman ironworker I worked with when I was 16. When it comes to women, "one you turn down is one you never get". The worst came when I was learning to road race motorcycles. "When in doubt, gas it".

8. Best Advice: "Allen, Quit Smoking" and "Allen, Use A Condom"

Worst Advice: "Don't leave me. If you leave, you'll never find what you're looking for and nobody will love you the way that I love you."

As it turns out... I use condoms, I quit smoking.

Regarding the bad advice... I stayed for a few years longer. I eventually left. And... I did find what I was looking for---and quite frankly, I wouldn't want anyone to be "loved" the way that he "loved" me (so that last warning/advice was moot)

Best, from one of my older sisters a few years ago: "if people don't like a charming, intelligent, attractive person such as yourself, screw 'em, who needs people with that little taste?" ;-)

Worst, from my father when I was 18 and quitting my job as a shipping clerk to look for something more challenging: "Don't quit, that's steady work!" Thanks for the vote of confidence, there, Pop. If I'd listened to him, I'd be a 44-year-old shipping clerk with varicose veins and no skills.

That has kept me out of so much trouble; oh the people I would have hurt, the terrible things I would have said otherwise...

Worst I took: "Come with us, we're only going to see a movie, and she wont be there." I did, we didn't and she was.x(

Glad I didn't take: Maryland is too far away(from MN). I love it here, and frankly sometimes it isn't far enough.
