Last night the winds were so bad that several trees in our neighborhood went down
And it set me into panic attack mode (fearing fires again).

I am so tired, from not sleeping.

3. They did not used to scare me...
Until this past October, when they brought wildfires to within a mile of our house.

I would almost trade this whole "wildfire" Santa Ana winds, earthquakes, and mudslides from rain season for the subzero temperatures in the winter of Minnesota. Yes, the weather is extreme in Minnesota, but it seems far more manageable to me.

2. My dear KitchenWitch...
Oh, I'm so sorry...

They were ferocious here as well...

All was quiet this morning, and all throughout today, though...

You will sleep tonight, I am hoping...

Remember, the fires are very rare...

4. I am sure I would be reacting differently
If I did not already have PTSD as a pre=existing condition (my PTSD was diagnosed about a year after I got through all my cancer treatment).

5. I am sure that's true...
It really sets you up to react to anything that is upsetting...

I am so sorry, sweetie...

I wish I could take it from you...and leave you well, and whole...

6. Oh, I can totally relate to that.
I still have times when I remember and get all scared of people. It's not as bad now, but any new trauma aggravates it for me. Hopefully, you will sleep peacefully tonight.

7. Last night I was back up in LA (SF Valley), and the winds were pretty damned bad
They left 10,000 people without power and started small brush fires in Pacific Palisades and Reseda (how the fuck there's a brush fire in Reseda I don't know).

My mom and I were in the Korean supermarket on Devonshire/Reseda Blvd in Northridge and while we were shopping the power went off and on a couple of times. I'm so glad I didn't have to cope with being around hundreds of freaked out people in a large building in the dark .

8. I had no idea that there was BRUSH in Reseda!

Thankfully, all of our electrical is underground here, so unless the big feeder towers go down, we do not lose power.

9. Wow...you live near where I used to when I was in L.A...
...I was in the Glenbrook Apartments (I'm sure they've changed their name by now) on Devonshire just across the street from CSUN.

10. I actually live in Chatsworth
Well my mom does at least. Close to Chatsworth High. Although I'm pretty familiar with the entire northwest part of the Valley.

13. Don't remind me what high winds can do...
Here's my experience, and it has nothing to do with fires. :scared:
